Metz roadtec z6's
Just returned from a trackday at pembrey, weather was dodgy, heavey drizzle then drying. Z6's ROCK!! No problems at all with them, very very grippy wet and dry scraping boots in the wet and no slides. Without doubt the best tyres I've ever had :D I won't be looking for anything else when they do wear out, dunno when that'll be 'cos there was no snotting up, cupping or any uneven wear, can u tell i luv 'em??

Sounds like another convert :P
Did you leave the pressures the same or drop them a little? |
I am wondering what pressure you are running as the guy in the tyre shop said run 36psi rear and 33psi front but on the tyre wall it reads 42psi front and back. I am pesonally running 42psi rear and 38 psi front and have run out of chicken strip on the front

32/32 on advice of the tyre guy at the track, didn't play around with settings as it seemed fine. I'll try this on the road as I've been at 36/42 on the road for a while, just to see if i can feel the difference. Looking at the pics that a lovely blonde girl was taking/selling you could see some cool looking tyre deflection on a few shots :D
Might be a little soft for major long sweepers but grip wise I couldn't fault them. Bloke on GIXER 1000 track bike was ****ed off too, blue printed engine, petal brakes, warmers blah blah, asked if the SV was a thou :D :D [trumpet blowing mode off] |
Just had a set of these fitted at weekend after taking the advice on here of Rictus01 et al and have to agree they are very good tyres. Only had the stock 220s to compare against but the Z6s are leagues ahead of them. Even wearing them in they are very grippy and really sure footed. Cant wait to get another ride in and finish getting them scrubbed in properly.

Metzeler have now updated their website with the Z6 tyre fitments for the SV. However, it appears that the reccommended pressures for a >2003 SV are 33/36, unlike the preferred 36/42.

z6's or conti road attacks? im gonna get one or the other.
has anyone tried them both? any differences in them? |

me and Suzuki and now Metzeler agree that 42 is just too much pressure. |
Yes but that chart is only a guide and can't compensate for the different weights of bike and different suspension set-ups. I suggest 10% either way of the manufacturer's pressures is fine - experiment till you find the bike handles how you like it to.
