Are we back in the "Off" season?
HI all,
I've read a number of threads today, and the majority are related to offs  I hope you all get better soon ,and you get your compensation guys n gals. Please don't tell me it gets worse as the sunny season starts :? :? Not good news folks..and I don't mean that in a sarcastic way by any means. Just makes me wonder if biking is for me when I hear these things. Plus I hate pain ! |
The start of the season is usually the accident peak also.
I didn't ride easter weekend due to my expired MOT and tax but last weekend I saw 2 offs, or at least their aftermaths. One R1 smashed into a car just off a roundabout and a 125 that seemed to have hit a skip on the side of the road. If you've not been riding in the winter much, as I have, then you can't get on the road and cane it. Re-read all your saved articles on riding tips. Talk your way through bends and brush up on those rusty skills. After passing the incident with the R1 I was a little more cautious... Until a 'busa passed me on it's back wheel  |
 Very nearly Yesterday morning going to work... I saw a young guy coming toward the junction, looking at the car in front and not at me... so slowed a bit and YES, pulled stright out, so as I lightly tapped on his passanger window Suggestidly, he slowed ...
It gave me great pleasure to find out that he's just posted in to my unit and is a lower rank to myself.... Today on Parade he found himself marking time, changing step and had a Show Parade @ 22:00hrs, That reminds me must contact the guard comd to find out if he has one at 06:00hrs... Life's a bitch then you get promoted... |

I know what you mean, it's the silly season
On last Sunday's rideout we got back to Box Hill and came across a Blackbird that had lost it on a corner & had slid a very long way indeed Moriarty then got rear ended a bit later by a car Then on the news on Monday, a 20 year old lad had been killed on the same road into Rye that we passed along on Sunday  |

And Mass.... its a little known danger around towns in the summer months. Its called scantily clad females. They will do almost anything in their powers to divert your eyes from the road. Rear observing....errr observation and all that ;) Seriously tho. |
I think it's to do with the fair weather riders. Today I was walking across a set of traffic lights outside my workplace when I spot a Blackbird coming straight at me very quickly. I'm in the middle of the road with the green man still on solid green and although it's dry I know he's going way to quick so I run across to the other side. What followed was just insane and I’m not sure what the rider was thinking but he decided he would not stop for the red light, even though it’s been on red for a good 30 seconds, and carries on going even with traffic going across his path at a junction just past the traffic lights. Luckily the cagers where alert and stopped instead of ploughing into him but it was just incredible how he got through without being hit.

Valman, I've seen similar to that more than a few times in Southampton.
I don't think the rash of offs in the last couple of weeks is just because of the fair weather riders. Everybody is a bit more excited, we're getting some nice weather for once. More accidents are pretty inevitable, really. |
