Tank mounted Video Camera

Anyone tried this? :? I've seen a few ads in the press and plenty of home-edited clips by a mad european brothers ripping up alpine passses. :D

I'd like to record a few routes but not sure if a) the camera would get in the way or b) the picture would be any good (too shakey etc) though I guess this has more to do with how smooth you ride.

Get a remote camera and use your camera as a VCR, you can then mount the smaller "lipstip camera" virtually anywhere...

You'll pay up to £50 for a tank mount, or £100 for the complete remote kit. See here: http://www.urbanbiker.co.uk/video/.

I have 2 microphones which are both under the tail unit, but I'm going to try and use one into the helmet for commontary this year

I got my kit from www.rfconcepts.co.uk

i know u can get a thing called a 'bullit camera' made specially for cars ad bikes. they are good as they dont get in the way and wont harm u should u decide to crash and fly over the top.

i think they did complete systems for £500, not cheap, but the quality i saw was impressive.

as for sticking a normal cam corder to ur tank, just be careful u dont let it fly off in the wind! u can get proper clamps to attach it to ur tank. vibrations shouldnt be that bad i dont think, i think they usually have rubber bits ont he clamps to suck up some of the vibes too.

oh, and be sure to post ur vids on here!

there's a camcorder mount thingy for 40 quid.

i guess it wouldn't be too bad on the soft sprung SV, wouldn't like to mount it on a sportier bike

but if the police stop you for speeding, you're f*cked because they have solid evidence, right?

Have a look at http://www.3rhm.com/sportbikecam.html for a decent camera mount.

Thats a good point, i seem to remember some german guy in a ferrari F50 (or F40, can't remember, it's the one with the stupidly big spoilier on the rear) making a video and had a camera mounted on the roof and one pointing at the speedo.

he sold copies of the video and eventually the police got a copy....he was then nicked based on the evidence that he shot.

that was because he was selling copies of it. u wouldnt have to give a copy to the police as u dont have to incriminate urself if u dont want to.
so just make sure the police cant get a copy from somewhere else!

I have the www.sportbikecam.com mount.
It's not cheap, but very well made.
I might add a bullet/lipstick cam later, to get different cameraangles.
