Recommend good light leather jacket? Bionics question too..

Have a HG textile jacket bought for £70 a few years ago, still performs admirably with good liner etc.. fairly waterproof too and looks good, but looking to get a leather jacket in the £150 price range. HG do one but it is far too thick for summer. Infinity had a great frank thomas with air vents and removable liner, modern looks etc but was close to £300  Are there any warmer weather leather jackets at good prices...? Went to J&S morden, but no luck there either.. thanks, james

Oh and secondly, are there any bionics that one can use in summer alone without a jacket over the top. It seems that they are made to be worn inside a jacket..? Would love to throw on a t-shirt and bionics jacket over the top for riding around town in summer...?

Bionics - i think that what they called.. like a skeleton jacket, which are just basically armour (soft or hard) attached to netting... the problem in midsummer in the city is that one is standing still alot of the time, so there is minimal airflow...

Get thee to Peterborough next weekend for the BMF rally and you will see so many stalls selling bike gear you wont know which way to look. And everything else you ever wanted and still cant afford :x

Most of the armour shirts or suits dont have anything to protect you on tarmac is the problem. I wore just one with an motocross shirt when I was abroad last time but I felt quite vulnerable without any cordura. I reckon on tarmac at any road speed they would just shred.

But the type of thing grinch is on about is good. And you'd be surprised how cool you will feel even on a very hot day at any speed. HG have some nice light tea bag style jackets.

Have you tried the HG "Tricky" summer jacket?

I got me one of those a few months ago - vents, vapour releasing lining, etc. and a Ride Recommended rating

Cost a bit more than £150 though (I paid £220 from HG in Slough) but it's a nice jacket and I've had nothing but good remarks form others on it

Try having a look at the jackets fro Rev'it http://www.revit.net/.
I bought the Boxer fully perforated leather jacket a couple of months back and am really pleased with it 8) .

They have some textile jackets that are mostly mesh, very well ventilated.

I've got a RST leather jacket which has perforated shoulder panels.
It has a removable liner, but I still find it too draughty for anything but hot days. I need to get some kind of windproof t-shirt. I think its the propelle jacket that i have.

Only cost £130 from Just Bikers in Plymouth. I've seen them since at shows for over £150.

Rev'it stuff is good also, my cordura jacket is over 3 years old and does a brilliant job.
