What powdercoater...

Will do calipers and wheels, take bearings out of wheels (can't get the bearings out of my front one) and swap tyres, by mail order? SSS will, but they're not exactly cheap, anyone know of an alternative?

Bettablast (0191 2518575) do calipers and wheels (don't know about bearings). They don't usually courrier but ring and ask as it's a family business with no strick rules. Also very cheap and lovely quality (picts of my calipers forthcoming).

http://www.espcoatings.co.uk/

their in glasgow as well so no need for mail order

Andrew

I'm looking to get mine powder coated pretty soon and would be interested in seeing a picture of how yours look.

Cheers Andrew...

Weegaz, I tried ESP, they don't seem to return emails and they've been engaged every time I've called them. Plus, I've got no ready way of getting 20 kilos of bike bits to Glasgow just now. I'd like to use them, they do really nice work, but so fr it's not going according to plan. They're a bit cheaper than SSS too, which is nice.

I'd just use BBS in Edinburgh for that matter and transport the wheels one at a time, but they're notoriously awful for actually answering the phone. Did a great job of my forks though (if anyone saw the old GSXR streetfighter on Viper Bike Paint's stall at the Scottish Bike Show, that's the guy from BBS's own road bike... Used to be Alan Duffus's race bike!)

I've took pictures and will have the 35mm developed in the next week, then scanned, then uploaded, for your viewing pleasure.

The quality is spot on in every way. Did cost £56 in total for front and rear though, which isn't quite as cheap as I was first quoted.

Did that include blasting off the damaged paint?

Triple-S work out at £40 for non-metallics. You reckon that's expensive?
(£10 rear, 2x£15 front) or was it the £25 return shipping charge?

northwind 17-05-05 08:28 PM

The wheels work out about £15 apiece more than ESP in Glasgow quoted me... Don't have their price for calipers yet.

£56 for blasted, coated and laquered.
