FLAT BATTERY!!
 

:( Bought a 99 s model on Saturday, 12,000 miles full service history with a new battery and back tyre fitted 2 months ago.
First day out on it this morning starter a bit sluggish but hell i wanted to go on it so didn't give it a second thought.
Got to work took, waterproofs off, (typical english weather) went back outside to start her up to impress crowd that had gathered and .......
Starter managed to turn over once before giving up entirely.
How do i check the charging system??

get a bump start or jump to get u home then buy an optimate of something simmilar to charge the battery careful not to cook it thou thats why an optimate is best cos it will not over charge

just a word of caution, I have just had to get a cdi replaced on a bike at work because the AA jumpstarted the bike off one of their portable batteries that they use on really big vehicles! It blew the whole cdi unit, completely shot! cant even get it repaired!

in that case be very careful indeed :shock: they are an expensive bit of kit

How do i get the seat off. (no handbook)??

Undo the 2 small allen headed bolts at the front of the black panels directly under the seat. You should find they'll sort of hinge out from the back once that's done, if not find the small black poppers at the back and push the centre in using a pen or similiar to remove the panels entirely.

Now, undo the 2 large allen-headed bolts that you've revealed. Not the massive ones! They hold the back of the bike on :) There's 2 that fit the larger allen key in the toolkit, with really big flat heads. Seat should now just lift off.
