Datatool Alarm and Charging the battery ?

I have a quick question about charging the battery whilst it is on the bike - the compication being the prescence of a 'wonderful' Datatool System 3 alarm.

Does anyone know if it is possible to just connect the charger to the battery and charge the battery while the alarm is armed ? (I have a connection that comes with the optimate charger which means I can just plug it in without taking off the seat etc - but haven't fitted it yet).

I can disconnect the battery with the alarm in service mode and charge it off the bike - but this emits an annoying beep every 15seconds- which the neighbours love !

The alarm did knock a 100quid of the insurance quote so there is a good reason to keep it !

considering that datatool sell an optimate copy charger under their own brand it would be stupid that it did not work with one of their own alarms.

I've got a Datatool System III, and I use an optimate to charge up.

The optimate comes with a weatherproof lead that you can permanently fix to the battery, sticking the end out by the rear brake reservoir. Charges up fine, with System III on full alert.
