Tank Raisers
 

Has anybody tried Chewy's tank spacers?
I'm in the process of changing the exhaust and was thinking. :-k
The new exhaust will make the gases flow better with less restriction so why not let the bike breath a bit better.
My mate has a gixer and I am very jealous of his air scoops, :(
My :?: is how much difference would tank spacers make?
I found a Carbon Ram Air Duct for the SV 650 but not looking at spending that kind of money :shock:

makes a lovely induction noise.... not noticed alot else except increased carb icing when cold so i'd advise summer use only

I had no problems running them through the winter in all sorts of hideous weather... Though I've never had any carb icing at all so fair play, I can't speak for those who do. (I'd still like to get to the bottom of why one SV will get carb icing while one next door won't, but that's by the by)

And they definately do help airflow since taking them out has made the difference between running a bit lean when I went back to the WRP system, and running badly lean. I wasn't sure myself till I noticed that a few weeks ago. For the moment I have them out but I'll definately put hem back in when I go to rejet again.

Whoops, meant to say, before you do that take the foam off the bottom of the tank, it has a similiar effect and is free.

I put some of my own tank raisers on and it seemed to make the bike miss fire more.

You'd need to have the carbed bike 'set-up' to deal with the increased airflow... The K3+ bikes can handle it ;)

how much do these items raise the tank by and are they placed under the 2 bolts either side of the yokes?? Or is there more involved??

No, you got it... It's just two spacers added to the bolds which hold the tank down, about ½” to ¾” clearance from standard is the difference TBH :!: Obviously, you'll need longer bolts too :wink:

IMHO it ruins the lines of the tank against the frame, If you've had the bike re-mapped to take the increased air flow, then I could understand it, but if not, then I wouldn't bother ;)
