New bandit 650
Well my bike went in for its 4000 service on 31st....only slightly over by nearly 1000 miles, but hey...
Anyhow they gave me a new bandit while mine was in for service..now i was given a bandit last time, and it was the old model... on that occasion i rode home and the bike sat outside my house as i wasnt impressed with it. On this occasion though (albeit optimistic) i pulled away from the dealer expecting the same but as i changed up into second and opened the throttle i was pleasantly suprised by the sudden surge... on the open road i opened it up again...and soon i had a grin on my face...talk about quick...it pulled very well and i would say its quicker than the SV, the power uptake, although not instant was smooth and not at all jerky, before i knew i was doing ridiculas speeds and so ventured onto the motorway to find even at the top end it was still willing to please. Well i can't knock the engine, i think they have done a grand job adding the extra 50cc... on the down side, the brakes i didnt feel had been adjusted for the extra power and the suspension still wallowed slightly, on the motorway (even though it was the half faired model) i was buffeted around quite badly and i soon began to feel the effects of the wind blast in my chest and neck area. All in all they have done a good job, was glad to have my sv back though :D and i won't be rushing out to buy one... As for the service....i think it was needed, the bike feels alot better for it. See you in Burford 8) Regards Fraser |

It doesn't actually make any more power than the previous Bandit and certainly isn't faster than the SV as it has a slightly lower power to weight ratio as it weighs in at just over 200 kilos.
