Top Line undertray...quick question
Hi All! :D
Have a new Top Line undertray for my curvy. Looks fab', but is it legal? No markings on any of the lenses and the indicators are about 30mm either side of the tail/brake light (makes for a tidy r'send but are they going to come under scrutiny from MOT or the police?). Will it pass MOT? If so, will it pass the 'police roadside constuction and use' inspection? :? HELP!! To fit or not to fit, that is the question.....whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous blah blah blah. |
I think I have one of them (not sure 'cos I bought the bike with it on)
I'll post a pic later so you can compare. Can't comment on the MoT-ability of them 'cos mine's only due in September this year but everyone that follows me says the indicators can't be seen in anything vaguely resembling daylight! Hence I have to resort to hand signals if I'm executing a tricky turn with people behind me - hardly cool  I would guess for the MoT that the rule is "if they're fitted, they must work" which mine do, but you just can't see them working in daylight! As you're only down the road from me, feel free to PM me and we can meet up and compare ****-ends (ooo-errrr missus  ) in the real world. |
As promised, a piccy of my undertray - is it a TopLine?

Don't know, but it's definately not legal :) Quite nice though. To be fully legal you need e-marked indicators which I think have to be a set distance apart, an e-marked rear light and a number plate light and reflector. Which is why I got the TCP one :)

Hi mate!
Yes, your undertray is definately a Top Line. Looks absolutely great on the bike, dunnit? I see what you mean about the 'cators though; must be almost invisible in the sunshine! How long you had it fitted and have you been pulled by plod because of it? Rich :D |
Hi Rich
I've had the bike for a year and it's been on all that time - weekend riding only though, so it's not had daily exposure to plod. Anyway, I've never been pulled for it (or the G-Force race can! :D ) It does look quite cool and, as I don't have any other options to fit (without buying a new one altogether) I'll have to see if it passes the MoT come September! :? At least the number plate is legal! :D |
That is the Top-line undertray (from Rhencullen I assume?).
I've got the same on my SV... had it on both of mine for four years, passed three MOT's with it and use it every day (and it's parked, chained to a pole at a police station). Never had any bother because of it. |
Cheers Oaf! :D
