Squaring off

Can anybody explain why I keep squaring off my rear tyre, run at 36p.s.i.
B.T.14 more than 60% of my riding is on lanes[no chicken strips] but I still have managed to square off my third set of tyres in 10,000 miles
The tyres aren't worn out just a flat middle
Suspension setting?? [On notch 5 for 95-100Kgs with my gear on]
More tyre pressure???
Less hard acceleration??
What?????????????????

Starting to get expensive 3,300 MILES PER SET

Possible contributary factors:

Pressures you run.
Bit happy with the loud handle.
Heavy footed on the rear brake.
Using stickys, no way round that - sticky tyres = short life whatever you do.
Worn shock - suspension has a pronounced effect on tyres.
Bumpy/rippled roads - wheel spin's not necessarily perceptible but shags tyres.

accelerate less on the straights and more coming out of corners?

Hahaahahahahahahahahahahahahah

Your complaining because you got 3000 miles out of a rear 014. That was good wear for me!

I changed to Avons because the last rear 014 on mine did approx 1100 miles............My old man gets more mileage out of them on his blade for fecks sake! (and he doesn't hang about, in fact makes me look like I'm hanging about)

I'm afraid thats the way it goes mate. It was suggested to me (by a tyre advisor from one of the leading tyre wholesalers) that possibly the low (36psi) pressure I was running the rear at was contributing. It was also suggested that the way a twin delivers its power pulses could be contributary.

Bridgestones reccomendation is 36 front 42 rear.

Hope that may help you.

As per

Thanks everybody,I'll try the 42psi. setting on the next set and see if it makes any difference over a prolonged period. I did try it before but I thought it made the tail a bit "SKIPPY" so I dropped back to my 36psi.

Avon and Continental recommend 36 front and 42 back for the SV as well.

I have just tried to prove a point to myself today. I raised my pressures to those that have been mentioned on this and many posts.

At 42 / 36 the bike just doesnt feel right, it is skitty and feels like I am on marbles :? Im going back to Suzukis 36/33 in the morning when the tyres are cool 8)
