Owners manual question - new owner
 

Hello and greetings to everyone,

I am the new on this forum. Followed it for a while, but there was not reason to create a post until few weeks ago i did get one SV650 from the local dealer. Have to say it is K5 and unfaired. Liked the bike and it was more or less fitting to my budget too. Don't need bigger bike, since most of time it is for riding in city and really like the naked looks. And i like awesome V2 sound.
I am restarter on the bikes, well really meaning that i had a gap like almost 20 years between. But it appears to get back quite fast. Now the only issue is to explain to wife that the thing in the garage is not that bad as she thinks :wink: .
But the problem i have in here is that i have owners manual in german. I really do not speak and understand the german language. Does anyone knows the place where I would be able to download the english version? I can find only the service manuals, but not the owners manual. I've got even clock wrong in there and i am not able to change it... :oops: At least not without the help of manual. I am afraid that this is not the only thing i need to educate myself on that bike tricks and tips.
I really do hope that this post is in right place. I didn't find anyone to ask same question already.

I don't know of anywhere online that has the owners manual, hopefuly someone here will be able to point you in the right direction, but if it can't be found I will scan a suitable manual and E-mail it to you.

Sid, I'd really appreciate that but i don't want to create more trouble. I think i will go to the dealer and ask whether he is willing to replace that with an english one. Otherwise perhaps i just start to ask really stuped questions (like how to setup your time correctly in the dash)... :wink: . I think i will not collect much popularity then, but that is the risk i have to take then. :lol:
Bikageboy, it might sound really strange, but i am hunting for the owners manual. :D I happened to be the guy who even reads the user manual for the spoon... just a habit... can't help it :). But of course, thanks for the link (I downloaded the service manual the other day already... :wink: ).
I've got really the very first stupid question - what is the english term for the period when you are riding gently your first 1000 kilometers? I am trying to find discussion about that, but really don't know the english word for it. English is not my mother tongue you know. :P

The period when taking things gently for the first 1000km is called the 'break in' period.

You adjust the time by holding the Adj and Trip together :)

Will start to look some suggestions for the brake in period. And will go to the garage to setup the time right. ;)
Do somebody care to help for a one more thing - what are the differencies of the different positions of ignition switch? Well, i think i found a reason for a OFF and ON position... :lol: . But what is the meaning of position LOCK and P with some stripes after that? Previous motorcycle i had it too simple and i haven't dealt with two wheelers for a while after that. :oops:

Lock is the steering lock,and p is the steering lock with the lights left on.
This is a special key position designed to leave you with a flat battery when you least expect it.Best avoided at all costs.

LOCK position = All electrical circuits are off. The key can be removed and the steering will be locked. Turn the steering all the way to the left and push down on the key and turn it to the lock position.
P = (PARKING) position
Tailight will come on to increase visiblity for temporary road side parking at night. The key can be removed and the steering will be locked.
