Forks Setup

The front suspension on my recently-acquired 2002 K1 soaks up knobbly road surfaces on bends, but seems to wallow a bit on undulating roads.

It doesn't appear to have any preload adjustment on the front forks. Does anyone know from when this was available?
Can mine be modified?

Also, the fork tubes end about 6mm above the brushed aluminium yoke. Does this mean that the previous owner had been fiddling with it?

From 2002, and yes. You can buy the preload adjusters.

Yes. Raising the forks though the yoke will make the bike turn in quicker.

looks like the forks have been dropped through to either speed up the steering or the person was very short and was part of a lowering setup on the bike.

They usaly are just above flush with the top yoke.

Not quite, the standard setting for the fork tube, (not the cap), should be flush with the top yoke for a faired bike and 6mm above for a naked.

Forks Preload Upgrade & fork tube setup.

Thanks SID - I'll not touch it then, but I will think about uprating the springs or buying the pre-load kit conversion.

Any idea where I can get this from?
