Shortening the side stand

Hi All

Have just fitted longer links to lower bike [ as us shorties need] but feel that the side stand is now keeping the bike to straight would like to make the bike lean more on the side stand.. Any ideas on how i can achive this :?:

Cut the foot off.
Cut the stand to the length you want it.
Weld the foot back on.
