Good tyre for motorway use
 

Im doign around 26 motorway miles per day, and around 26 city miles (26 miles each way) to work and back. Front end is very low on tred and i need a new one.

However, i can't just prop this bike on a bucket like i did my last :lol:

How do you girls/guys go about removing the front wheel what do you support the bike with? Im going to go for a race stand at the rear as i''ll be going through tyres fairly quickly, anyone offer any advice for this? (I know to remove front wheel will be, un-do calipers, undo bolts and take out the rod between the forks)..

As for the grade of tyre, i know people say specific ones are better. tbh, for me its got to be a good wet weather tyre. I dont ride the bike hard into corners, so its more about good grip, especially in the wet.

Can anyone advise me on the above?

I used an NWS stand, but if you're only taking the wheel off and not doing any other front end work, then a standard front paddock stand will do it.
As for tyres, there's alot of choice, just have a flick through this section.

For all those upright miles i assume you square off tyres pretty quickly. A dual compound tyre would be ideal, i can't for the life of me thing of any that would be good for motorway riding though.

I'm sure someone with half a brain will be along soon.

I do around 65 miles a day and my Roadtex Z6's lasted me over 10,000 miles, probably closer to 11,000

as its track day season, I've switched to Diablos, but they only usually last me 4000-5000 miles.

tbh, i'd like a harder compound, but if the softer tyres provide much better grip in the wet i'd rather go for that.

Im fine in the dry, but after riding my last 2 wheeled machine which was VERY unstable and slippy in the wet I haven't got much confidence (even after 5 years!!!). So i'd like something that I don't have to do 5mph round every corner..

Try Conti Road Attacks, good all round, And I've yet to have a complaint about them!

i had pilot power all year rond tres and they where fine in the wet or bt014 easy to get and last long time in all weaher

If you make 014s and Pilot Powers last a long time, I can only think you're wheeling the bike around ;).

I have to recommend Azaro STs the tires is very well designed, the carcass hasa variable belt density allowing the sides to flex more and heat up more making a seemingly softer stickier rubber on the edges.

They also have deeper tread depths in the area that wear fastest.

every other tire I have tried got flat spot in center on rear and scalloping in front. not with the Avons. Other tires performed better when new and still round, but overall over the life of the tire, the Avon performed consistently instead of losing performance as the tirres wear out like every other tire i have tried
