New Rider Questions about SV650

Hi all, i have a few questions about the SV650.

I am a new rider and take my test a week Friday. Im doing the A2 test so need to get the bike restricted. After lots of reading and looking about, i have decided that the SV is the bike for me. I really want one in black with the lower fairings, havent seen many so would settle for red, preferably the darker more metallic red than the bold brighter one. (that make any sense?)

This site says the colours changed every year, is this an indication of age? i saw a year 2000 model in black on ebay, yet the site suggests that year black wasnt a colour option. Can anyone give me some helpful advice about what to look for when buying a second hand curvy. I dont want to be ripped off.
I am looking to spend about £2000 - £2500 (is this realistic?) as i will also have the cost of restriciting it as well.

Thanks a lot

Darren

Hi, I've got a 2000 model "w" reg black SVs so it IS a colour option for that year :D . You need to be a little selective about what you read in reference to the good ol' SV. Some people talk a load of ****e
Still, nevermind. At least you've got your bike. :D :D :D :D

different territories have different colour options, that's probably a chart from the US or somewhere.

£2000-£2500 is very realistic for a 2000 model. Mine was £3000 but it was a k2 with v few miles on it >1000 8)

I'm getting mine restricted and lowered (when they get their a$$es in gear)  - they said it would be ready tommorrow but now its thursday

I was told that the restrictor kit is £140 new. :x

oops i mean <1000 miles

Really? According to my instructor, it's just a washer between the carb and the head. At least that what he told me when I asked how easy it is to take out...

Yes it is just a washer, but apparently it needs to be on some database.

It's probably a con and I am being taken for a ride as many on here have done it themselves but i'm at the stage where I want everything legit.

Will be taking it out myself in 2 years though

That price seems more like the ECU restricter thingy for the FI ones :?

Anyway, welcome. One thing I would say is that it seems to me that its a buyers market at the moment and some K3s have not been making too good money so there's bargains about.
