Tyre concern...
 

I'm a relatively new SV rider, and I've noticed that my front tyre now has zero chicken strips, whilst the back has about 5-8mm left. I'm a bit bothered by it as I would rather not lose the front end in a corner!!

Has anyone else had this kind of problem? And if so what size and manufacturer of tyre can anyone recommend?

My last bike was a CBR400 for which the trye wear was completely the opposite. I apreciate they are totally different bikes, but felt far more comfortable when the tyre wear was that way.

Any help would be much appreciated.

How is having some chicken strips on the back a problem? Different profiles on the front and back and differences between different models of bike can easily mean that one end gets to the edge before the other.

I wasn't saying it's a problem to have chicken strips on the back trye, was saying more that I see it as a cause for concern having none on the front, I'm worried that I might lose the front end.

I was hoping for a little pointer about what profiles other SV riders use.

My tyres are stock profile and sizes, got virtually no chicken strip on the front tyre and a small one a 2 -3 mm on the rear.

I think its more to do with how you ride rather than tyre profile, I wouldnt worry about it

My brothers 400 is the opposite, he has a chicken strip on the front tyre but none on the rear, I think its down to rider style more than anything else

Chill, you will have to push it hard to loose the front.

my 014's used to have a huge chicken strip on the front, with less on the back.

Now the AV46/47 St's, are the other way round. Zero front chicken strip, and a small one on the back.

Chicken strips mean nothing. All tyres are different.

If it feels ok, it probably is.

Thinking about it, I probably just don't like the tyres. Never have got on with Bridgestone's. They are getting a little thin anyway, so it's coming up for change time.

I appreciate what you said about chicken strips too, I'm not bothered that I've got some on the back tyre, just would feel more comfortable knowing that the front isn't quite so close to the edge, especially when it's a little damp on the road.

Any suggestions for tyres I should go with? Bearing in mind my comment about Bridgestone's!! Ideally I'm after a nice 'round' profile, if that makes any sense??? :?

Try Continental Road Attacks, a bloody good all round tyre!

u aint makin' much on those then!!! :-)

Too right I aint Stumpy!!
But it'll get folks through the door, & get me up and running again after my move from the southeast! And ofcourse, any saving that members can make on their running costs can't be a bad thing!
