Bangs like thunder
Hi folks,
I'm new here and I'm not totally convinced that my English is up to the problem. Nevertheless let's try. The other day I was driving downhill towards an red traffic light when the lorry behind me stopped, the 2 lads got around it and were looking for something. They obviously didn't know that it wasn't their lorry but my SV who'd made this little noise- a fire cracker is nothing like it. I've checked the plugs- OK. Ignition timing is not an issue any more??? Anyone got an idea? Thanx. Oehrwolf |
Have you changed the exhaust?
|
Sounds cool! You're sure there's something wrong with it? :D
*Ahem, Sorry* |
Well, this is the original exhaust and I'm not sure that there's something wrong- at least it runs like ever.
But think of the children and old ladies- it's like the German tanks are comin' in town. |
Have you had a backfire?
I sometimes get a little backfire on my bike (a very quiet one). I think it's when the exhaust isn't fully warmed up and maybe I have had the choke on. And I have shut the throttle quickly after revving it highly. I know from the past that If you rev a motorbike to high revs and kill the ignition, you will get a backfire, but this is bad for the exhaust. Even on a little Honda C50 you can get a massive backfire which sounds like a shotgun going off. |
I guess that backfire is what I'm talking about. But it's only when the wheel is moving the engine and the throttle is completely off. It first grumbles a bit and then I get this massive explosion-backfire. If I give her a bit of petrol it stops. So it's obvious that coming downhill in deccelaration is giving me the problem-OK I'm no kamikaze going always on full throttle. They would not encounter this sort of problem.

and I forgot one more thing: if I pull the clutch it's OK.
|
It sounds exactly like the bangs I get on the overrun., but I don't have the stock exhaust on my bike.
Did you have the bike from new? Are you sure it's the stock can? Has it just started doing it? |

My bike is a very low milage Curvy, and totally stock with the original suzuki exhaust. It doesn't concern me at all, I think it's just motorbike noises. |
great in it
