Change Handle bars on Naked SV's for better Comfort etc
 

After a few uncomfortable rides on my new SV650K3, I changed the bars for a pair off of a Triumph Speed Triple, what a difference better comfort and handling, after nerly selling the bike I now love it. Any wide bars will do but make sure to drill them for switch gear to fit properly. You will also need to re-route the left hand switch gear cables, as not quite long enough. What's the difference between the two bars? Is the Triumph Higher , lower , more pull back , less pull back?

I have Renthall ultra lows on my k3 and I love them. I had no problem with cable length at all though... 8)

why do you prefere them to the originals?. How do the rise , height and pull back compare ?

I've got so many handlebars and clamps now from trying different combinations trying to see which ones will give me just the right amount of compromise.

At the moment I've got the Renthal ultra low but I feel I need a bit more pull back. I've also got the 'lows' but find the a bit high. They will be okay(as pull back is good) with lower handlebar 'risers' but getting lower one brings up a new set of issues with the fork/handlebar clearance

Funny thing is I find the bar off my thousand has amount of pull back I think I want but maybe just a little bit lower than I'd like but will be trying it out over the weekend.

Its the first thing i do when i get a new suzuki, i have fitted renthals to all my bandits and now the wife has a new K5 i have orderd some for that as well, i prefer the standard compared to ultra low

This sounds just like the thing for me. Have looked at the angle of the Triumph bars and they look good.
Can you give details of what you need to drill, if the bars are the right diameter, if cables reach without need to replace them, and where you buy the bars?

Which model of the Renthal bars does the job of bringing the bars closer to you?

let me check, i have the same ones fitted to my bandit, if you get the wrong ones all you do is widen them with out the comfort and handling improvments

The bars are available from any Triumph dealer, I am lucky as I work for one called On yer Triumph and got to try them for free, they are a bit wider and straighter than the originals. i found the original bars gave me a pain in the elbows after only a few miles. They need to be drilled as the switch gear have both got locating pins and the Triumph holes are in the wrong place. It is esential to drill the throttle side as it stops the thottle switch gear from spinning under accelleration. All std cables fit it's just the LH switchgear wiring that needs re-routing.

After damaging my hands in a cycle accident I find i need a set of bars about 1" higher and 1" further back on my naked K5. Any ideas as to what type to try?
I'm trying not to put any weight on the palms of my hands. At present I can do about 20mins then my hands go dead :cry:
