renegade exhaust system
hi all , i am just about to buy the very sexy SV650s and im thinking of adding the renegade exhaust system, can you tell me what if they are legal, if not how do i get insured and whats the chancecs of gettingin pulled over by captin copper and his mates ? :?:
|
Can't help on the zorst Stew but welcome to the board :)
|
Maybe try putting a post in the "Exhaust" section (right down the bottom of the front menu on the forum). All the techno-nuts who know about exhausts tend to lurk in there.
And welcome! :D |
No Renegade will be road-legal.
But that's not put many people off  |
They do road legal ones for a bit extra, but once youve heard the race ones you wont want anything else!
Ive got the twin exhausts on mine and had a talking to by a copper once in 4 years of owning the bike. I was drag racing my mate from the lights at the time so kind of asked for it :) Right bike and right exhaust 8) have fun |
I've a high level race can on and never been pulled - as long as you're sensible you should be ok. If you keep the rpm low they're not too bad.
The others are right, once you've got a race can on you won't be able to go back, it just makes riding so much more fun. Renegade is one of the best choices for the SV imo. |
1) They are not legal
2) I had no problem with insurance (with Carol Nash) 3) Had the cans for 3 years and was never pulled - also did a Bikesafe with them on and the only comment was 'bloody hell, they sound nice' Renegade cans are top quality kit, with great service and an awesome sound - DO IT |
Just to clarify,Renegade do make road legal pipes but you needn't bother with them :)
The sound they make is not the loudest you can get,but its plenty loud enough and is a much nicer noise than most. Some can sound quite tinny and others sound like tractors imo Renegades let out that lovely v twin drone \:D/ for everyone to enjoy. Well maybe not everyone! |
Got a "not for road use" round stainless renegade on my K3 650s and its a beaut. Sounds wonderful, so much so that I tend to avoid putting ear plugs in when going for a ride. I've not been pulled as I'm quite careful when riding through towns/villages and near PLOD. Dunno if its normal BUT my can ends somewhere around the middle of the rear wheel. Oh, and theres a hell of a weight saving over the standard heavy (I'll say) can
which means of course more power/ration - cant be a bad thing can it? GO GET IT MATE |

Stewboy, Id try and meet up with a few SV owners and hear what their cans sound like if I were you. There are differences - volume wise my scorpions about the same as Moriartys Renegade, but they have a different tone to them. I love my Scorpion cos its E4 stamped, and the baffle removal/ replacement is lyn proof :D |
