Tank Range
can anyone tell me the range for the K5 (generalizing of course) and how much is left when the warning light comes on?
TIA Ray |
depends how much you like to thrash it. I get about 100 out of my k4 to the light and about another 30 after that before I'm panicking.
It's 5 litres left when the light comes on but you're almost certainly not going to be able to use the last litre. |
According to the manual for the K5, you have four litres left when the light comes on & 2 left when it goes solid.
I get about 140 to the light & about 40ish after that. HTH |

I had a lovely rideout in north wales yesterday - wallasey - ponderosa - bala lake - ffestinniog power station - betwys-y-coed - denbigh - wallasey, still trying to get the grin off my face.
One tank of fuel on a black K5 = 177 miles from pump to pump - light started flashing at bodfari approx 130 miles - went solid at about 160 miles. I don't generally break any speed limits (usually only overtaking) but I try to maintain a steady 55 - 65 on A-roads running about 6000 rpm to give me good response/engine braking control, brake lever is usually just a passenger until I reach towns (or some nobhead trips me up) |
I just did the maths -
refill of tank - £13.50 cost of fuel - 91.4 per litre just under 15 litres to fill tank so assuming I started with the full 17 litres I still had 2 litres left. 15 litres to do 177 miles = 11.8 miles to the litre - thats 53 miles to the gallon! I love my SV |
Thanks for the info folks, Ill stop panicking at this strange flashing light. Thought the bike had fallen in love with all the petrol stations we passed
Oh by the way the petrol up here (way up in the North of Scotland) is over £1.05 a litre today, with rumours that it is going up again. How do you lot fair with prices?? Ray |
