Slipping and sliding

Am I doing something wrong? I have a new set of leathers and when riding my bike I slip and slide about when braking hard or cornering. I don't have this problem with my textiles, so I was thinking that maybe I need to grip the tank tighter with my thighs?

I can ride faster and am more comfortable on the bike in my textiles. I know leathers take a little while to break in properly, but I didn't expect to be slipping about like a greasy weasel! Any tips?

Thx

The leathers sound like they've been covered in some sort of nourishing cream which can take a while to soak in... Give them a good 'buffing' with a dry absorbent cloth & see if that helps

And don't polish your saddle.

if you use your knees rather than thighs to grip the tank you get better purchase and less slipping on the brakes. BUt I found the same thing when I got new leathers, only lasted a few days/week or so. But I didn't polish my seat

A polished saddled certainly makes for some interesting hard acceleration. I worry about damaging the paint work if I squeeze too tightly.
