I've binned it. Gutted & Very Pi$$ed off. Very long rant

Riding to work Friday lunch time and has some to$$er pull out in front of me, about 4 meters in front leaving me nowhere to go. Luckily I had already slowed to 20-25 as someone had pulled out before him. Anyway broke quite hard (wet road) but not hard enough applied more brake and the front locks and i fall down on my right side. As I'm sliding on my side I'm reading the car number plate over and over to remember it whilst looking at my bike continuing to slide down the road. I try to get up immediately(sp?) and discover I can't as I've landed on my knee. After 2 minutes hobbling about and doing lots of swearing I had some nice people come along and help me pick up my bike. I remember cursing a taxi driver who made a big effort to get around me and my bike to continue on his journey but it turned out he had seen the whole thing and was chasing after the car to get the number plate and returned to give his name as a witness and to tell me he lost the car as it sped away.
Rung the police from the scene and was asked if i needed ambulance or a recovery vehicle, told them no as i was near home and could limp the bike home. "OK" she said go home and wait for the police to come to you. It took the police 28 hours to make contact with me. 28 HOURS!!!!
It turns out the car was stolen in March of this year.
I was attempting to walk the dog on Saturday night and i actually found the car (abandoned) 200 meters from my house, I phone the police to report the vehicle and state it does not look like it's been stolen as all the locks are OK but notice it's not taxed. It's still there today.
My knee was feeling beter on Sunday although my shoulder had started to hurt so i decided to have a good look at the bike. the R&G's took the brunt of the fall but it looks like new brake levers, exhaust end can, mudguard, forks and the panels on the right are badly scuffed. It's ironic but if the R&G's hadn't been fitted i don't think the bike would have touched the back end of his car and bent the forks, it just kept sliding.
I'm now waiting for the police to get in contact to see if anybody is still registered as the owner of the car so i can claim as I'm only TPF&T, don't get me started on the to$$ers at the insurance co, that may come in a seperate rant later. At least I'm still in good health but I'm so Pi$$ed off with the police and insurance because I know at the end of the day It's going to be me footing the bill not the guy responsible.
I went to my local dealers on Sunday and got some spares prices and the total damage was £1100 and that's for me to fix it.
Thanks for listening. RANT'S NOW OVER. (It's built up as the site's been down)

Ditto but in reality we all know it will be some 15yr old plank who knicked
his mums car and dumped it ... You'll get nothing as he's too idle to even
get a paper round and end up being stiffed with the bill :(

Relax, get better soon and just look back and thank the shrooms you
survived mate.

Thanks Guys & Girls. Most things now sourced all I'm missing now is the front brake lever which I'll try patternparts for.

BURNER 03-12-05 07:01 PM

I haven't got a spare lever at the mo. Glad you're almost back on the road.

Sorry to hear this, glad you're okay but bad news about the bike. The amount of scum out there is frightening.

Hope you get yourself sorted soon.
