I'm in need
of some advice please. Although I've not passed my test yet I've just bought an SV (K5). Mr is not happy with me riding it until it has some protection. The bike I am learning on has crash bars fitted. Can you get crash bars for the K5??

They do exist. I have no idea how good they are, though. I have crash bungs on mine and they've saved damage on all but one of my drops. |
Thanks
Hopefully one day I might get to ride it ........if I ever manage to nail a u turn in a test. Depressed.

eh up Trouble!
R&G Crash bungs recommended 8) . Bars might be functional, but they look awful and you don't REALLY want to use them do you  ? As for U-turns, I know it sounds hard, but try to relax. SLOW and in control is the trick, but that's harder if you let the nerves take over. Good Luck, Garry  |

I know they're not very stylish BUT I have dropped my training bike twice and I don't want to take any chances as a new rider. Mr is thinking of crash bungs as well!! I'm beginning to think you probably wont be able to see the bike for the amount of bungs he's going to put on it. Bloomin heck!

i would have both when u first ride the bike, and when u r happy i would take off the bars.
i failed twice because of u turns, and you dont really do them in real life. good luck |
I almost failed my test with a naff u-turn, now I do them all the time, it's just a matter of confidence.
How embarassed will I be when I fail my retest because of a u-turn? |
To Carsick ...
If you don't do it on your own bike maybe the problem will come from not having the added weight of the "mud" protecting coat? Loosing stability... |
Bikesliders

I wouldn't buy the R&G bungs, but that's just me.
The 'U' turn is all about the rear brake, use a constant throttle and control the speed with the rear brake, this separates the drive and the steering forces making the steering easier to use and improving balance. |
