Starter Relay Crackling
 

I went to start the Bike up on Sunday and it turned over a little and then all I head was a crackling from the starter relay. I assume its shorting.

I'm loathed to buy a new one as was wondering if anyone had encountered a similar problem?

My guesses are:
1: It's Fooked
2: The Gear leaver Sensor (God knows How) :roll:

I've had problems with my relay over the weekend ..check all the connections first and see if that helps.

I had this problem a year ago.

All the symptoms point to the starter relay being at fault but in fact in my case the problem was a knackered battery. Before you go getting a replacement relay (like I did, and expensive) get the battery checked out.

I don't think it's the battery I chared it with an Optimate3 and ran about 40miles on Friday and Sat. I even tried to start it with the charger on.

Connections look ok althought I am going to test them with a multi meater tonight.

do you mean charged or charred? they are quite different things....
