Were you out to play Sunday 08 Jan 06?......................

.....................I was.

I accompanied the good lady Quedos through to auld reekie to delivery her machine for a service & recall work (Honda) on what looked like a real nice day.

By 'eck was it bloody freezing though! After making the 40 odd mile trip, the old fingers & toes were fairly numb. A bowl of soup and two cups of coffee were required before the return leg. In view of the already cold air and the fading sunlight, I decided not to hang around on the way home.

Well, that was the idea anyway. About half way back the mind started to wander with the chilly digits etc and I pulled off the motorway to clean the dry salt from my lid and to warm the fingers around the can. Negotiating a roundabout with traffic joining, I wanted to ease off a bit and promptly OPENED the throttle thinking "BACK - to back off". OOPS! Steady progress for the remainder of the journey was the safest bet. Heated grips are now firmly on the "to do" list.

Spotted about a dozen other bikes between the out and home legs - nutters! Were you one?

Had a nice time regardless and look forward to spring with even more dismay at it's distant nature!

Cheers,

Garry

I was one of those nutters!

Decided to take the Blackbird for a wee run down the Borders to Gala and Hawick for a couple of coffee stops and back. Was intending to watch the Borders v Cardiff game but decided it'd be far colder on the way home at 6pm that it was at 4pm. 8-[

It was so cold in fact that I had to invest in a copy of the Southern Reporter to act as an extra layer of insulation on the way home!

I suspect heated grips will be my next upgrade! :o

I couldn't be bothered to get out of bed all day. But then I had got in after 3am cos I was out with mates, one of whom wanted to buy me a lap dance as a birthday present but we couldn't find a strip club that was open...

Hey Cronos,

You tried "Miss Ellies" cafe yet on the South end of Hawick? Looks like an old "wee chef" to me. It was great when I visited a few months back - dead cheap too!

I'm pretty sure Miss Ellies is in Selkirk, a few miles up the road from Hawick.

The Coffin End is the best cafe in Hawick.

Drew was a little ****ed... I think I may have been too, I was certainly a little hungover... And I think I may have danced, never a good sign.

I do reckon that you're right there. Just proves that I need to investigate that part of the world more  . Especially torturous since its in the area of "Britains Best Road" as voted for by racing drivers and motoring journalists - A708 Moffat-Selkirk
Apparently

Drew was a little p*ssed... I think I may have been too, I was certainly a little hungover... And I think I may have danced, never a good sign.

You were shakin' your groove thing quite well for somebody with a dodgy hip
If I had had one more Sambuca I would have been in a very poor state - then and the next day 8)
