Crohn's and a stoma (ileostomy)

Ok, im sure many of you reading this will not have heard of either and have no clue what Crohn's disease is or what a stoma (ileostomy) is. However, some people may know what either of them are and may have them.

I have Crohn's and a stoma. I was wondering if there are any other people on this site who have either and ride a bike.

If you have Crohn's and/or a stoma then could you reply to this thread along as long as you feel comfortable in doing so.

If you do not feel comfortable replying on this thread then maybe you could send me a private message/email me to talk about this sensitive subject.

If anyone wants to know anything about this or is interested then they can pm/email me.

Thanks for reading.

Jason

My best friends little borther has crohn's, so I am aware of what it is. Does it interfere with your riding then??

I think it takes a great deal of courage to deal with something like this and to discuss it on a forum such as this.
Kudos to you Jason

Respect to you Jason.

I guess symptoms can make things a bit difficult for you.

But at the end of the day we are all bikers, whoever we are.

Best of luck to you Jason. I know nothing of these, other than I've heard the words before, If there's a cure I hope you get better, if not then I hope they find one for you.

Al, i know is that a study showed an increased risk of Crohns in adults who drank milk too frequently.

Apparently ok to do when you are a kid but not as an adult. Cant remember where i read it tho, but i have stopped drinking milk as a drink, now only ever on cereals or in tea and coffee.

The Crohn's doesnt effect my riding as im in remission (symptom free). However, my ileostomy bag fills up which can make it difficult to wear protective clothing when the bag is full. This doesnt happen often though as i always empty the bag before i go for a ride.
