recommendations on oil

just bought 4 litres of oil - Fuchs Silkolene Pro-4 10W-40 - at local bike shop & cost me nearly £39!!! Its fully synthetic.
I'm sure it (or a similar make) can be got cheaper online. For future reference would be interested to know what others use.
Have I gone ott using fully synthetic?

£24.95 Hein Gericke - 5 Litres of Motul 10w 40 Semi Synthetic, oil filter & Air filter mate... Your bike has got a K&N filter on it at the moment, they're about £9

Semi synth is all an SV wants or needs. I use GPS because I like the colour ;)

All mine ever gets is dino oil, usually Suzuki 10w40, sometimes Spectro 10w50 in summer, if its ever low and I top it off, I put in whatever is handy... my opinion is oil is oil as long as it meets Suzuki's minimum specs and is correct viscosity for climate, I have 123k, and my engine performs as good as ever

true, i was advised to use semi synthetic. the deal at hein gericke is a good one. you need to ring before hand to make sure they have filters in stock or you lose out on the deal. :)

Nah, it's just a rather pleasing red. If you get an oil leak soon after you change the oil (ie, you forgot to torque up the inner clutch casing bolts  ) it looks like the bike's bleeding.
