Assuming it's a UK spec, it takes H4s. I use Osram Silverstar 60/55W bulbs which I got off Ebay for a fair price, they're pretty good. Not the best, but then, they're a fair bit cheaper than the best ;)

Although the lights on the curvy SV can be upgraded (changing the bulbs) the main limiting factor is the shape of the reflector and you can't do much about that.

Being diabetic, I have frequent eye tests and after 2 and a bit years on the SV (curvy with upgraded bulbs) was resigned to the fact the my night vision was getting worse (do regular runs in the dark, no street lighting.), although none of the tests suggested this.

swap back to a speedtriple again, and suddenly it's no longer a problem.

Cheers Mark.

only h4's

so doesnt it have sep bulbs for dip and high beams?

waz thinking of upgradeing to 60wat bulbs all round...

and a 6 bulb led side light

H4 are dual filament- dip and main.

Rictus is right, funny-shaped headlights are naturally less efficient than round ones, and the SV's aren't especially good even for the breed. Not bad, just... Not good.

Hmm. I'm type one diabetic too, if my next retinopathy shows degradation, should I be able to get a Speed Triple on the NHS? :)

Have Philips Blue Vision in mines and it makes a helluva difference compared to the stock bulbs
