Crash Bung Fitting
I've picked up a pair of MOKO crash bungs that have the long through-the-engine bolt. As I picked them up 2nd hand there were no fitting instructions. Couple of questions on installing them (did a forum search but didn't find the specific info.):
1) The engine mounting thrust adjuster on the LHS has a castle type nut - according to the manual a special tool is need to remove these - is that correct? 2) With the bungs installed it seems that the thrust adjuster is replaced with an Ally spacer that comes with the bungs. Can that be right? I would have thought that the thrust adjuster still needs to be there to allow for the tolerances between frame and engine casing. Thanks for any advice you can give Keith |
No-one fitted this type of crash bung?
|
As far as I'm aware there's no need to remove the engine bolt positioning bits, just remove the bolt itself and the bungs fit on a longer bolt/stud that replaces the original.
Have you a photo of the bits and bobs? It might make it apparent what sort of fitting you have, I think I have fitted Moko bungs before but I don't have a specific memory of them, however I've definately never fitted any that required anything other than the through bolt to be removed*, I'm not saying they don't exist, but I don't recall any that fit like that. * Of the variety that fit there that is, there are some bungs that fit on a different spot. |
I think the Mokos are basically on the R&G/JHS/Motosliders pattern, big botl clear through, nothing else complicated?

Thanks chaps - will post some pics shortly.

Here are the crash bungs, just one long bolt, bungs and ally spacers. I've not taken the original through-bolt out yet but there's a thrust adjuster in there at the LH side. Is that just left out completely when fitting the bungs?

Anyone done these?

Take the through bolt out of the engine mount, put the stud in it's place, put one bung either end, no need to remove anything else.

Do these things never come with any kind of instructions? If not that’s terrible. I send out a sheet with all mine no mater how simple it is to fit.
Dont forget the correct torque settings. |
Thanks Sid - Didn't think that you could undo the bolt without undoing the thrust adjuster.
Chewy - answer to your question is probably yes - but I bought 'em second hand. Well done for getting in a plug for your stuff though :P |
