If you have declared one to your insurance they will have to be told of the replacement model. What one have you got? Datatool send people out to fix the alarm on the bike if its under waranty.

no warranty on it and not told insurance

Dont worrey about it then. You will be more or less replacing the alarm into the same points that the old unit was using.

What problems did you have? As I've not heard any before... and I can't imagine them any worse then my Acumen which did all sorts of odd things, and now is almost dead (imobiliser still works though).

Not a data tool, the keyfobs are sh*t and sometimes they get wet and then you cant disarm the alarm... I know trust me....

Apparently according to the manager in the dealer I go to, the Keyfob on the Meta alarms is much better as its sealed so it wont let the water in. Also the meta doesnt arm after 30 seconds, it just goes into immobiliser mode which means that it doesnt arm itself halfway through filling the tank like the data tool does ( unless you put the data tool into service mode )

So you can forget to turn it on, both have plus and negitives. Usaly you take the key out to open the tank so at the same time you can turn the datatool alarm movment off. The datatool has been updated to the S4 with a new fob design & a few new features. I think it now has the possability of attaching a remote siren that does not have to be connected to the alarm directly.
