My ABBA bike lift arrived today. First mpressions... The lift itself is seriously heavy, rather glad it has wheels. The other parts seem quality.

Fitted it up... The plate that's to fit under the front is really badly placed for my bike- there's 2 holes you can put it in, both are too far forwards for the underneath of the engine. With a standard exhaust I think it'd be fine, but mine goes down the side of the engine so that's a non starter. So I'm having to lift it by the beyllypan bracket. Not a problem, but not ideal.

I'm also surprised to find the stand part doesn't attach to the lift part in any way. I've found stability issues with the ABBA when removing hte rear wheel, with it jacked from under hte engine- it can cause the stand to lift off the ground as the balance point is so far forwards. Not good on the jack, on the stand it'd be disasterous. Not something I'm going to take a risk with I think, if I ever do serious work like that I'll strap the stand to the lift for security's sake

Got the thing on using a rear stand to fit it, slid the jack under, and up it goes (it seems you have to have the sidestand up before you fit the stand bracket). Very good... Much more stable than you'd expect- the only concerns were caused by the slightly uneven driveway it was sat on. it didn't seem very high when I did a dry run, but it's high enough.

Access underneath is a bit limited by the sheer amount of ironmongery involved... But that's to be expected. At full height the whole thing is about a foot off the ground. I can see me using it for real cleaning- no more grubbing around at ankle height, should be great. Easy access to the underside of the engine as well. For heavier work, I'm still a little skeptical about the stbility once you start taking weighty parts off, but we'll see.

All in all... Quite pleased. It's not cheap by any stretch of the imagination, but I find getting around the bike awkward with the limited space in the garage and my ropey leg, so I think I'll get good use out of this.

I just looked at the ABBA website... which model lift did you get?

it doesn't look like any of them campare in stability & versatility to an EazyRizer,

easyrizers start at £289

I got a deal on mine from a company in the US that was going to market them recently they just wanted to get rid of inventory I bought mine for $400US (£229) and later picked a second one up for a fellow SVr for $450 (£258) and they came with all the optional attachments

They start at £289, but the multi-mount kit is an extra £39, plus £15 for p&p, meaning the whole thing comes in at nearly £350. The ABBA lift cost me just £190. Winner :) It does seem less stable than the Eazyrizer, but not to the extent that it's a real concern. Apart from the wheel thing, which may well prove to just be me being overcautious.

Also, the ABBA's on wheels, which makes it a better option for my limited space. Eazyrizer's a better product I think, but they cost more than I'd pay for a stand. Even what seems to be the best stand in the world :)

Anyone used either the abba lift or the easyrizer on a pointy, specifically, the K4 w/o bellypan/fairing lowers? Any comments?

Out of curiosity Randy, what do you do with it? I know you get all your work done by dealers, and I just saw you post on SV Rider that you don't clean it either... Is it just for lifting it up so you can vacuum underneath? :)

I have had my SV on it just to say that I have done it, mostly my son has used it for his vfr, I have had my XV920R on it too

now that I have a set of spare wheels for my knobby tires, I will use it to swap wheels

the biggest reason I got it is cause it was such a good deal I couldn't pass it up

I do work on stuff, just not my daily driver, I have to depend on it, so I get professional service
