wavey and tibal discs?
 

found these on ebay was just wondering if there is much difference between these and stock or even wavey discs

I really don't like the tribal ones, but that's a matter of taste. I read on the listing, if it's the same one, that they're zinc coated to prevent rust. Now, is it just me, or is that a really bad idea? Zinc's not known for its friciton properties for one thing, and for another, the thing about coatings is they wear off- so if you're relying on the sacrificial protection from the zinc to protect from rust, everyday braking will take it off.

Lack of surface area would mean less stopping power?? No??

Maybe... But it's a rear disc, I doubt you'd miss it- Sv rear is more than strong enough when in good nick. Besides, the difference between a drilled or wavy disc and the tribals is probably minimal. I'd be curious what effect it could have on pad wear though.

I've been on SV Rider too much recently, I juts typed rotor instead of disc twice ;)

Saw those discs and thought they looked excellent styling wise, but you gotta worry about a) pad wear, b) will the disc break up. Have seen a disc with Hayabusa cut in it and that was cracked. Not good.

They're cheap enough though. Still might get one :roll:

Yes, those are a bit chavvy tacky, HTH.

Not necessarily. If there is less area to either the disc or the pad the same braking input pressure, (ie how hard you pull the lever), generates a greater pressure - per 'X' area - between the disc and pad.

wouldn't the pads be more inclined to break up, especially hitting some of those edges, or does it not work like this?
