CBR600F or SV650S???

Well after my little bump I have been given a CBR600F. Now I know what people mean when they say dull, dull Honda. My word it is Dullsville City, Arizona.

If you are looking at one of these to step up to after the SV, my opinion would be - don't bother. It's dull. The SV is just as quick where it matters, more punchy and a damn sight more charcterful. It's also not dull.

The 600F's handling feels sluggish and and the bike feels heavy. If I had to say anything about it I would say it feels stable. It also has a low seat height and a more upright riding position. This makes it easy, but not challenging, to chuck around. There is no real kick anywhere in the power, it's just a gradual build in speed. Really dull.

The engine also feels rough. Not buzzy like my RR, just rough. It's better when it's wound up but before 8k - nasty. Surprising for a Honda.

Did I mention I thought it was duuul.......zzzzzzzzzzz....!

I am very surprised.

I've heard many people knocking the RR and saying the F is better as a road bike.

I'd have still got a RR out of the two regardless of what those people said though.

So...

Is it a bit...err...dull then?

Er...isn't that what a motorcycle is supposed to do?

Well let's face it Scoobs,if you had found the "F" to be on a par or God forbid better than the "RR" then you could have been popping your head in the gas oven! :P

Fair comment Pedro. BUT, I wasn't expecting it to be as good as the RR. I have ridden a few bikes and all of them leave an impression on me. There is always something that stands out. The way a bike "feels", the way it makes you feel when riding it.

The SV was a great bike and really full of character. It had a punch. Honest, unpretentious, did exactly what it said on the tin.
ZX 636. Excellent bike. You have to be totally, 110% awake on that. It's a buzz but it is IMO draining.
VFR800. Great do everything bike - and very surprising. A real sleeper. Shamed sports bikes that did.
Every bike has a "thing", but the CBR doesn't.

If that's what you want from a bike, then it is a great bike. I can't really knock it if you just want an A to B'er. It just feels lifeless and souless doing it.

So let me get this straight scoobs.

Youre thinking of getting one right?

The SV is just as quick where it matters
Surely that could be said about the SV in comparison to any IL4600.

I would say the CBR is much quicker than the SV. I do understand what you mean about it being dull to a certain extent, theres nothing about it that stands out but personally I would still prefer one to an SV, I thought it felt a bit more focused.

Have you been on an SV since you've had your RR though as I can imagine the SV would feel a lot more sedate after an RR.
