Remote start alarm wiring - HELP!!!!!!!
 

Hi just wondering if anybody may be able to help me with this. I have a 99 SV650 SX. I am in the process of fitting a remote start alarm and need help with the wiring. It is all fitted but wont work...... Is there an immobiliser on the bike????????? Is there anything in the ignition barrel such as a resistor that chnages the voltage??????? Can anybody offer any kind of help or suggestions about what might be stoipping this working, it turns over but just won't fire. Its not the clutch switch cos that is the first thing I disabled!! Please help guys!!!!! :shock:

Yes, there is an anti-theft device. In the barrel itself there is a resistor, check your connector with a meter and put a resistor the same value in the wiring down by your ecu plug for an easy get-around.

also you have to pull the clutch in to start the SV so youll need a connection to this, thats of course unless youve already though of that ,

then ill just shut up

isn't it a bit risky having something that starts the bike by remote, what happens if you have left it in gear and have forgotton. Or does the sidestand switch stop this happening?

On the assumption that nobody would be silly enough to disable the sidestand switch unnecessarily, then the bike would simply not start.

As long as its wired into the neutral to check then it should be fine, but then again one day it will be in gear but report neutral then you are screwed.

Most units should be capable to check this though but may get stumped by other things.

Tom, you can run the circuit through the neutral light.

My mate has a remote start on his Bandit. He starts the bike from inside the house and then puts his gear on, by the time he gets out to the bike it's nicely warmed up! 8)

What do you do about the steering lock of don't you bother?

Does the original start switch still work if you have stalled etc.

Depends on how you want to wire it up. You can hang the fob on your jacket and press that if you like. In theory you could do away with all the switchgear on the right hand side, bar the kill-switch! Talk about theft deterrent!

Just have a permanently on dip-beam set-up, as per many new bikes anyway.

i got one on my bike!
an 02 sv650....remote will tick over but only fire if the key is in the ignition!
