If you give an SV a real hard time whats the 1st thing to break in the engine?

What do you mean?? Like being mean and nasty to it and calling it names or what??

It depends on what sort of hard time, like the man says... The SV's solid but it's no GSXR1100, if you abuse it in the right ways it'll die. It's spun bottom end bearings mainly. Though you can snap the crank if you put the effort in, and a few have snapped a rod, or you can tear up the top end if you know how ;)

I've started doing trackdays and it gets abused a heck of alot more than on the road, I woundered if they would stick it. Things like going down the gears real hard and the bike almost red lining through changing down to fast, slipping the clutch in tall gears and other genral abuse, I know everybike will wear out if you ride them hard, but I was just checking to make sure the SV is tuff, as I come from a MX back ground.

first and primary cause (and this should get some comments)

give it to a certain tunning company :?

but after that, well if it's cause by oil starvation then the big end are vunrable as is the rear cylinder small end (runs slightly hotter).

if not then the cam chain tensioners can brake, dropping bits into the bottom, or stick resulting in the cam chain "whipping" to braking point (but the noise beforehand should tell you something is up).

very early models lacked a baffle plate in the engine so wheelies could cause oil starvation ( see above but effecting the front cylinder).

I've seen other things fail on various SV lumps but these are the only ones I've seen more than once.
