Horribly Worrying 3,000 Revs Noise
 

Hi guys, posted on here a while back that my bike started making the odd 'shhh' noise when I started her up,

Well now she does it every time I start her and have the choke on up to 3k revs. All I can describe it as is 'shhhhhshhhh' and it only happens at 3k revs, always with the choke on, and sometimes without.

Is is the cam chain or something? My mates ZX6 used to do this and it was the cam...

Any help appreciated...

Mine makes a sorting of sucking noise if you overdo the choke, knock it back and it's fine.

Its not really a sucking noise though, like I say its more shhhhh and sounds like something in the engine grinding...

Did you allow your oil level to drop at any time?

No its always been filled up...

Had an old FZ600 that made a similar noise whenthe fairing was off, was a loose fastener somewhere vibrating. Can you trace the noise?

Yes, coming from the engine lol and like I say only at 3k revs so can't be a bolt rattling...

Mine makes a noise a little like that from cold sometimes... Never really been too concerned about it to be honest. If you worry about every random noise an SV makes you'll never ride it :)

Well I know it makes noises but this is a BIG noise...

So can anyone help me?

Drop past your local Suzuki dealer and ask them to take a listen, if they suck their teeth and quote a 3 figure number your bike is fine..
