The Beach Boys were wrong...vibrations ain't good?

Hi All,

My lovely gixxer has started really really vibrating through the handlebars...to the point were its actually quite painful to hold at speed?

The front of the bike is totally stable but the handles are vibrating like buggery. The bike handles fine still, no wobbles or excessive bumpiness just this f*ing annoying vibrations!!!!

Can anyone suggest what might be causing this?

Thanks

Flat spot on the front tyre?
How did you store the bike over winter?

Its stored outside but under cover, and is well looked after! Its on an axel stand too?

I'm gonna be getting some new tyres in the next few weeks anyway...?

How many miles?

If it was fine before but now isn't, I would check the balance weights have not fallen off the wheel. The headstock bearings (unlikely but possible) and the wheel bearings. Also possibly one of the callipers has seized and is grabbing at the disk.

u a smoker ?

this makes the vibrations worse for some reason.

Really? How so?

The most intriguing thing about this is the fact that I've only just started noticing it? My mate rode it the other day and didn't comment on anything, and nothing has happened since...I just started noticing it Friday night on a ride out!

Its going for its 4k service next week, so maybe get them to look at it?

i thought my cbr had developed vibrations, but it turns out that im riding it higher up in the rev range now, so therefore there are more vibrations.

smoking affects your blood circulation in your hands and feet, therefore making you more prone to "white finger"

:? If it was alrite before your mate rode it,I'd be asking him/her some questions!
Just incase something 'happened'. You never know!

Have to agree,sounds like a balance/bearing/tyre prob!

Sounds like you should ask you mate WTF exactly he did then!
