Hammeriting the rear disc carrier?
My wavy rear disc is starting to look abit rusty :(
Is it safe to give it a goo with hammerite? only on the carrier part, not obvisously on the friction part  I'm just concerned on the heat side of it, well will it melt and drip on the friction part? |
All I will say about Hammerite is it can take a fair while to dry.
The sniggers from the Soho massive will be testament to that. 24 hours to dry and putting a bike cover on = spectacular leather effect on the tank. Allow plenty time to dry if you get the advice its ok to do it. :P   |
Can the stuff be baked?
Shall i chuck it in the oven :D |

I suppose a bit of heat would definately be safe- discs can get burning hot in use. Just don't know how hammerite reacts with heat.

Why dont you email the manufacterer and ask ?
|
Why use hammerite??? Presumably because you want it straight to rust? You can get proper high-temperature (and VHT) paint from places like Halfords. A bit of wet and dry and then a tin of that would be a better choice!?!
Hammerite is brilliant stuff, but isn’t really meant for high temp applications, use the proper stuff and do away with any doubt!! |
Yep, I'd go for VHT mainfold paint.
