Safer Roads?

Found this on MCN...

Bristol Tests Anti-Slip Manhole Covers

Finally a good idea!

But would I be pushing it if I email the council a list of all the other dangerous manhole covers that are in the middle of the road?

No, tell them. You never know. They are meant to also be designed out of corners and roundabouts etc now. I doubt its retrospective tho.

Bristol dont seem too bike unfriendly what with anchor points and using bus lanes.

In Wiltshire its almost seems like common practice to put these covers at the apex of bends. Given that they are slippy when wet, they are not even level with the road. The A4069 from Nam to Dauntsey is one fine example. You really do have to pick your line in the wet.

I'll not complain though, all they do is reduce the speed limit, the lower speed does not help two wheels that much (you'll still visit the scene of the accident at 20 on a zero grip surface) but does give em an excuse to plant cameras....

Had a bad day sorry.
