Daytona 955i - Whats your opinion?
Anyone own or have owned a Daytona 955i that can give me a honest view of the bike?
Cheers RIch |
As I said in the other thread, what do you want to know?
Fast enough, fairly comfortable riding position for a sports bike, winters well, usable suspension settings (unlike the Jap stuff), brilliant brakes (the feedback is amazing), an good usable everyday British superbike. Cheers Mark. |
I only had a brief ride on one, but I found that it was more than quick enough, comfortable, handled well and had stonking brakes. It's never going to be as outright fast as a 'blade or R1 etc, but real world it is a very usable machine. (IMO)

I cant comment on the daytona perse, but I have a 955i speed triple.
Engine is purrrfect (as long as i wear ear plugs and cant hear my cam chain!). No seriously, it pulls like a train anywhere, any time, any how. Just give it some input from say 30, just tell it i want to now be doing 70 and it goes "Right im now at 70, whats next" almost instantly. Brakes, yep there good will stop you in the wet/dry very quickly, can easily turn your rear tyre into a UFO. Fraser - You might also want to consider the Sprint range (new 1050 looks nice!) if you find the daytona a bit extreme, although I haven't ridden one myself its got the same enigne (all be it a different state of tune (ok not the 1050..but you get the idea), and the rideing position is less extreme than the daytona, I believe. Although, I guess it depends on what you want, i guess. Dan |
And 'kin quick --Very tempted myself as they are available for -6k
Do like the gold paint job-147bhp and 165mph with character, if somewhat different from the V twin but still with the torque. Have a test ride Frazer and then see what you can get offering the same value for money P.S. My mates done 38,000miles on his. New brake discs and an oil cooler but that was because it got holed by a stone |
i've got one and i love it, as said the brakes are amazing and can lift the rear wheel if you're abit over enthusiastic with them  8)
i find it comfy enough to ride and the engine is superb, loads of pull on it and a fair bit of engine braking as well. It seems really well made and doesn't look like it'll go furry at the first sight of winter like the sv does!! try and get a test ride on one and the bonus at the moment is they're going dirt cheap!!!!! well less than £6k |
Dreadful rubbish, just don't.
Ask Swiss he knows. |
My former upstairs neighbour has one, but it's track-spec. Does the job there very well indeed, but he certainly didn't find it user-friendly the couple of times he rode it to work. And it spent more time at Jack Lilley's than it did at home.
