The difference a few miles make
This week i am riding my girlfiends SV to work, as it sits there all week, and can sometime, a couple of weeks without being used. So to keep the battery topped up and to stop things from siezing/corroding/rusting/falling off, i am going to ride it every now and again on my commute. However, this has highlighted a few things with my own SV. Now, my bike has done 44000 miles, spends 80% of its life commuting on a 10mile central london coummute, hers a country life, covering just over the 18000 miles. Age wise, they are both K1's, mine on an X, hers a 51.
Anyhoo, things that are just not the same. The gearbox is just so much lighter on her bike, the clutch is nice and springy, the brakes are nice and working and not siezed and sort of working, oh, and it doesnt clunk over the bumps like mine does. So this leads to a few conclusions. My rear caliper needs sorting out, not sure about the gearbox, but the 6th gear bearing is very whiney. The clutch grabs and needs sorting (Changed clutch and cable) and i think i may need to sort the front forkss, and rear shock :( Hmmm. Or i can just knick her bike permently!!
