After market can = re-jet ?

I have searched the forum and I can't find a definitive answer to this.

I have a K2 curvy, if I put a can on it, will I need to re-jet ? or is this dependant on the particular can ?

If so does anyone know which exhausts don't need a re-jet ?

Thanks

The definitive answer is "maybe" :) But the chances of it needing it are slim. Even if you end up with a dip in the power, chances are you'll feel that as extra power up top, because of the way the brain processes this stuff, and the risk of running drastically lean is tiny.

Yup, what Northwind said. You only really need to think about re-jetting if you put a race filter on as well.

I was wondering that myself.I have put a blue flame evo road legal(baffle out) on my curvy. No flat spots, not too loud, definitely more top end and seems to rev up more clearly but was worried about fuelling.

I have a K5 with a Evo can, get it dynoed for about £30 to check fuelling and power, torque. Mine is 72. something bhp peak and runs a bit rich.

I had to ride like 150 miles with no end can the other day lol, had a bit of choke cos I was a bit worried really, it gets a fair bit of stick anyway trying to keep with the 600s!

Possibly a dumb question:

I take it, its best to remove the exhaust before taking the hacksaw/angle grinder to it ? (prior to fitting a slip on can)

jayjay 07-06-06 05:04 PM

Well, i did not remove the exhaust when i replaced my standard can with a fuel end can, just be carefull, i suppose if your really worried take it off but i wouldn't.

NO U CAN CUT IT IN SITU -
just towel up and be careful

hacksaw will do it.. just after the weld
