Dynojet kits...........whats in them?

So what do you actually get for all that money?

SpankyHam 12-06-06 12:49 PM

bigger bits for the carbs.

That's how I understand it. But I'm sure some techie will explain it to you.

There was an auction for the Stage 1 Kit. £25

didn't sell.

I wanted to buy it but after various comments stating that the stage 1 kit has minimum to 0 improvement I decided against it.

These kits retail for £85

In the stage one DynoJet kit, you get a fetching plastic box, a set of needles with e-clips and half-step washers, some jets (5 or 6 sets, I think, in the stage one) and depending on which version, you may get 17.5 pilots. I don't think the stage 1 comes with the stiffer slide springs or the drill bit for the slides.

Also, some IMO not very good instructions, I reckon the standard of advice you get on here is higher than the standard of the advice you pay for with DJ.

Also, some stickers.

In the stage 1&3 kit, you get a bit more- as mentioned above, stiffer slide springs and a drill bit to drill the slides, more jets. But still not very well specced jets, they're all under 150 or over 180. Funnily enough, an SV with a good system and filter will almost always fall inbetween.

Thats the main reason why i asked, sounds like even £25 for some go faster stickers aint worth it really considering i've got bigger jets in and the slides holes drilled

I'm not sure how different the needles are to stock... I think Sid Squid mentioned they were good a while back, they're not as varied in taper as the Factory Pro ones I know, but I've never actually measured them.

I have an stage 3 installed, didn't do it myself thou. but, I did feel the difference! there was also an new K&N filter with the modified airfilter-cover (drilled wholes). I could feel that my bike could breath better than before and was more vivit + the little dip in mid-revs was gone!
i didn't noticed any changes in fuel consumption, but normaly it should be better, if you do it right...

(pls feel free to correct my crappy English, it is bloody difficult)

My stage 1 kit had....

4 pairs of mainjets. 132, 134, 136, 138
1 pair of Needle jets
2 e clips & half-step washers
Slide drill, size #54
Instructions and stickers. Woo.

Considering the carbs have 137.5's as standard, the kit is next to useless - unless you have one of the early K&N's perhaps?

Adding up the bits, the plastic box must be worth about £40.

A stage 1 kit isn't worth it, rather just fit bigger jets bought seperately and drill the slides.

Ah but you are assumming the K+N number directily correspond to Mikuni numbers.
Not so

The stage one would do fine for a K+N filter or BMC standard filter.

Ahh sheeet!
I forgot about that, you got me fair n square.

Still, the instructions say to go straight for the 138 if you have slip-on or aftermarket filter or both. Only use the 134 with stock set-up. So they might have given the kit a #140 say to give you some more tuning scope. Just a thought.
