Spraying the new black frames silver

I really want a brand new SV650S, but I think the black frames which are standard on the K5 & K6 models are aren't nearly as sexy looking as the silver frames on the pre K5 models.
Does anyone have any experience of spraying the black frame sliver?
I'm not convinced that it would look very good but i'd really like to do it so any advice or comments would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Krys

are you sure about this?

I think most of the people (including me  ) preferes the black frame. so, I think you will find someone who is willing to exchange your black frame into his "less charming" silver frame...

just a thought

It'll be a lot of work in order to hammer your bike's value... If you want to, then go for it, but I wouldn't.

No offence mate but this would not be worth the hassle (in my opinion of course). You could always look out for a low mileage silver framed SV? Would be much cheaper too.

I think you may have to totally strip the original paint before spraying another colour over it. Certain paints are know as hot and once sprayed may start to eat at the paint underneath. I would recommend stripping, sanding primer then get a pro to spray it all silver using proper autombile paint and lacquer.

Also one thing to conside, if you do find another frame then the whole bike's history will be changed. The VIN is attached to the frame so in essence you will not own 'your' bike anymore. Could mean trouble with regard to re-sell value and insurance.

This is a joke right?

The black looks so much nicer.

Hang on just had a thought, if you've gotta get or got a K6 then unfortunatly for you it must be in one of those dull K6 colours so your clutching at straws for a way to liven things up.

Sorry don't know about spraying the frame, it's black black black all the way for me. 8)

You could cover your whole frame in silver tape, one forum member that i shall not name, may be able to give you advice :P :P

its alloy isnt it? have the black polished off, alloy shouldnt be painted anyhow. must agree the siver frame does look good.

I cant believe anyone would even consider doing this? For me the alloy frame on the pointy is just too much of a visual focal point and the black frame is such an improvement. :?

silver frame all the way

def silver frame, previous post is good. find a well looked after k3 with low mile's. it may cost same as higher milage k5 or k6 but least itl look better!
