Any scottoiler experts?
I have a scottoiler with a dual injector and recently I have noticed that one sid of my chain is looking very dry (well not dry but much dryer than the other side). I have made sure the nozzles are in the right place and I have also taken the dual injector and checked to see if one side is blocked but it seems fine so I am at a bit of a loss as to what the problem could be.
Any help would be very much apreciated. Cheers. |
Hmm, the same thing happens to me quite often. My quick troubleshooting seems to indicate that it takes very little to stop the flow out of one side - even having one side rubbing on the sprocket more than the other will do it. The correction each time has been to make sure there is no blockage by using the end of a paperclip, and then setting the oiler to prime to make sure it will flow out both sides, and then turn the tubes so that the are not actually touching the sprocket. Unfortunately over time the tubes seem to bend towards the sprocket for reasons best known to themselves and it happens all over again. Of course it is not completely disasterous and the standard oiler only uses one tube anyway.

I had a different problem with my dual injector after its first year - the join decided to part company and it dumped oil all over my tyre!!!
Back to your problem (not mine) - there is a filter material inside the dual injector that I guess can block up - I had to super glue my unit together and the glue sealed the filter blocking the rear side - a good prod with a paper clip opened up the injector but it worked too well compared to the other side, poked out the other side injector and turned the scottoiler down to its lowest setting and it is working great (crosses fingers and touches wood) PS e-mailed scottoiler with problem and didn't even get a reply! |

Cheers I'll try poking it with a paper clip tomorrow. although I have checked for blockages before.

so what are the advantages of the dual injection nozzle type thing ?
the single one does the job brilliantly ? |
