GB Stickers for Bikes

I know I need one to travel on the continent, but......

Do I need a full size one or can I have just a wee one.
If so does anyone know where I can get one (a little one that is)

Thanx

Personally I wouldn't bother. It's never something I've been picked up on and I've never heard of anyone getting into trouble for not having a GB sticker.

Halford sold them last time I looked.
In France they don't give a crap about the GB stickers; I don't know about the rest of Europe, though.

How about getting a Euro style plate made up? I am sure that if you have the european symbol with GB under it on your plate you dont need a GB badge.

Thats what my mate did - had three made up for the three people that travelled - then if you dont like it when you get home, stick the original one back on :D

I'm with the plate brigade on this.

As Carsick says, some countries are pretty relaxed, others (like Austria) definitely aren't! On the spot fine, Eu50 or something I believe, for failure to display. :?

I didn't find Austria a problem. I've just been through 8 European countries, including 3 days in Austria, and no-one batted an eyelid at my (slightly) undersized plate and total lack of GB identification. And I left the lights alone as well, though of course bikes don't dip so sharply to the left as a car's lights do.

On another forum I use, a chap on a 400 got pulled for no GB stickers..infact all 3 did if I remember rightly. They were set up on the motorway, stopping anyone that didn't have one. Easy money. Ffs, don't take the risk, they're pennies!!!

The undersize plate is of no concern to the Austrian police whatsoever, how do they know what a UK plate should look like?
There's no requirement for bikes to apply headlamp masks etc, it was changed a while back. Having said that I usually put some black pvc tape on the dip section just to avoid annoying other drivers.
......and yes you'll be OK without a GB sticker................until a polizei or gendarme stops you at a routine check or speed trap. My boss was fined in Austria for no GB cticker/plate (I worked there for a while). Interesting the Austrians have a Gendarmerie even though the language is "sort of" German. :? That's history for you. On the whole they're pretty relaxed though, just obey the rules and no probs. It's generally a safe place, just be aware of the (politically incorrect  ) eastern europeans, they are the organised crime brigade there.
