My other point worth mentioing is that i had a cheque through the post the other day for my off.

Basically i was travelling down the A1 at sandy, Beds last October and someone decided that they were going to overtake the car in front as i was going past, they didn't check if i was there and then knocked me off. After realising that they had knocked me of, they did what you would when you see someone rolling down the road at 70mph and then lying in the road motionless, that's right - drive off.

Anyway because nobody got the reg of the vehicle (too busy avoiding me) i only got personal injury compensation and no money for the damage, but its better than nothing. Still i will never ever be tempted to get TPFT insurance again as you can loose thousands as the result of someone elses neglect.

So an MIB triumph of sorts. My solicitor was great and although they are slow, for anyone going through this, hang in there it will come good.

Re insurance - Do you get personal injury compensation from Fully comp ins? and would this have been more than you got from MIB?

When we take out TPFT we can usually asses the value of our bike and weigh up what the maximum loss could be and make a rational choice. With personal injury it's a little different and it would be good to know if fully comp extends to your injuries and/or if MIB is enough to rely on.

MIB payout was £2k, but the off was pretty bad and every case is assessed on individual merits. That said i was injured aabout as badly as you would want to be (nothing broken). If i or anyone else had got the fuc£ers number plate then i could have got more. Personally i would recommend getting Fully Comp everytime. You just can't rely on the MIB and it took me 8 months and that is apparently quick. I have heard of some people waiting for two years! And that is a long time to be out of pocket. The insurance assessment for my bike was £2.2k and thats without my kit. To be honest it won't go very far at all so for me the future is fully comp, weighing up the pros and cons it just outweighs TPFT.

to answer an earlier question, no you wouldnt get personal injury compensation out of your own insurer. if you take legal cover on your policy, they should be able to do summit tho, like in this case, the MIB if the scum drove off.

I'd love to get fully comp insurance but it just isn't a option as it costs over double TPFT. Glad to hear you got some cash to ease the pain slightly.
