I have a laserline which i can honestly say has never given me an ounce of trouble in the 6 and a bit years its been on the bike.

Clifford have a new bike alarm out thats pretty trick.

People just seem to have problems with datatool, but i guess that theres more of them out there.

Immobilisers by themselves are a waste of money, nobody rides away on a stolen bike... They might cut your premiums though. They might also leave you stranded one day.

My SV has a Datatool Veto Evo on it. Its been nothig but trouble. Its left me stranded 3 times now.

My GSXR has a Meta 357T ( I think thats the model ) thats been OK.

I think the trouble with the datatool is that the keyfob has got wet lots of time and it shook itself to bits as I kept it on the ignition key. I keep the keyfob for the meta on a lanyard around my neck so that if I am out in the rain the keyfob stays dry*

*A Sid Squid recommended tip not my idea.

One thing it will do is reduce your insurance but it might take a while for the cost of the alarm to break even with the saving in reduction in your insurance premium.

It wont do any harm and may put off an opportunist thief. However if they want your bike badly enough they'll take it.

Got a Datatool System 3, just really annoying. My bike is garaged so I dont need one but it came on the bike.

Flipping thing beeps its head off everytime I go into the garage to get something. Im actually thinking about getting it takn off. Its not too good for batt life either.

I've used ITM in the past, they have a good choice. The abletronic on my Hornet has been faultless. You can find them at:

I tend to agree... I work for the RAC and by far the biggest non fix on a bike is a faulty immobiliser ..pain in the ar*e as far as I am concerend !!
