Cleaning a BMC filter

How should i go about cleaning my BMC filter? The cleaner kits come with detergant and spray oil.........will fairy and WD40 do?

Put it in the dish washer  Don't let your wife catch you though
But seriously any metal parts that you need cleaning the dish washer is ideal!!!!

I'm sure you could use fairy and WD40, I picked up a K&N cleaning kit from my local infinity's for around £10 and I'd guess it'll last me a good 6 or more cleans which equates to a good 24,000 miles or so. And it's all worth while because it makes the filter a nice bright red which gives you about 3 minutes of satisfaction before the top of the airbox gets screwed back on

Halfords sell K&N and Pipercross cleaning kits, they're under a tenner from memory... No idea if it'll be the right stuff ;)
